Field of use

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be used
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against alpha lipoic acid or one of the other components

dosage

• Always apply the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is
  • In the case of severe sensations of diabetic polyneuropathy, the infusion of 1 ampoule (corresponding to 600 mg alpha lipoic acid) in isotonic saline solution is recommended once a day.
  • After the content has been mixed with 250 ml of isotonic saline, the intravenous administration is to take place as a short infusion for at least 30 minutes. Because of the sensitivity to light of the active ingredient, the short infusion should only be prepared shortly before application. The infusion solution must be protected against light with aluminum foil. The light -protected infusion solution can be kept for about 6 hours. It must be ensured that the minimum infusion duration of 30 minutes is observed.
  • The drug is used in the initial phase of treatment over a period of 2-4 weeks as an infusion with isotonic saline solution.
  • As further therapy, 300 - 600 mg alpha lipoic acid should be taken daily in the form of capsules, tablets or excessive tablets.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have used a larger amount than you should
  • In the event of overdose, nausea, vomiting and headache can occur.
  • In individual cases, when taking more than 10 g alpha lipoic acid, especially with strong alcohol consumption, severity, e.g. T. life-threatening symptoms observed (such as generalized seizures, derailment of the acid base household with lactate acidosis, serious disorders of blood clotting).
  • Therefore, if suspected of considerable overdose, an immediate clinic admission and the initiation of measures according to the general treatment principles of poisoning cases are required.

  • In connection with the use of alpha lipoic acid as injection or infusion solution, allergic reactions (hypersensitivity reactions up to life-threatening shock (sudden circulatory failure) have been observed. Pregnancy

• It corresponds to the general principles of pharmacotherapy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding pharmaceuticals only to apply after careful use-risk assessment.
• Pregnant and breastfeeding should only undergo treatment with alpha lipoic acid after careful recommendation and surveillance by the doctor, since there are no experience with this patient group so far. Special studies on animals have not given any indications of fertility disorders or fruit -damaging effects.
• Nothing is known about a possible transfer of alpha lipoic acid to breast milk.
