Instructions for use

Method of administration?
Take the medicine with water.

Duration of use?
Allergic rhinitis with concomitant conjunctivitis: Treatment should be continued for as long as contact with the allergen (e.g., pollen) persists.
Hives: The duration of use depends on the type of complaint and/or duration of the illness and will therefore only be determined by your doctor.

Overdose?
An overdose may cause symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, and headaches.If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

General rule: Pay particular attention to careful dosing, especially in infants, young children, and the elderly.If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.

Bilastin STADA^® 20 mg Tablets
For use in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older

Active ingredient:
Bilastine

Relief of the symptoms of hay fever (sneezing, itchy, runny, blocked nose, and red and watery eyes) and other forms of allergic rhinitis.It can also be used to treat itchy skin rashes (hives or urticaria).

Note:
Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Bilastine STADA^® 20 mg tablets offer an effective solution for relieving symptoms caused by hay fever and other forms of allergic rhinitis.The active ingredient, bilastine, belongs to the second generation of antihistamines, which specifically block peripheral H1 histamine receptors to reduce allergic reactions.

These tablets are specially formulated for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over and offer 24-hour effectiveness with just one dose per day.This allows you to enjoy your day without bothersome allergy symptoms.

The active ingredient bilastine is known for its good tolerability and very low sedative effect, meaning it does not cause drowsiness.

FREI VON: Bilastine STADA^® contains no lactose, gluten, sugar, flavorings, animal-derived ingredients, titanium dioxide, or alcohol, making it an excellent choice for people with these intolerances.

Indications

The tablet should be taken one hour before or two hours after eating or drinking fruit juice.

Does taking Bilastine STADA^® 20 mg tablets affect the ability to drive and operate machinery?
A study conducted in adults investigating the effect of Bilastine 20 mg tablets on the ability to drive showed that treatment with 20 mg bilastine had no effect on the ability to drive.However, since individual responses to the drug may vary, patients should be advised not to drive or operate machinery until they know their individual response to bilastine.

Interactions with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction
Interaction studies have only been conducted in adults and are summarized below.

Interaction with food
Foods significantly reduce the oral bioavailability of bilastine by 30%.

Interaction with grapefruit juice

Talk to your doctor especially if you are taking any of the following medicines:
• Ketoconazole (a medicine used to treat fungal infections),
• Erythromycin (an antibiotic),
• Diltiazem (used to treat chest pain or tightness – angina pectoris),
• Ciclosporin (used to reduce the activity of your immune system, thus preventing transplant rejection or reducing the severity of autoimmune and allergic diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, or rheumatoid arthritis),
• Ritonavir (used to treat AIDS),
• Rifampicin (an antibiotic).

Interaction with alcohol
Psychomotor performance after concomitant administration of alcohol and once-daily 20 mg bilastine was similar to that observed after concomitant administration of alcohol and placebo.

Interaction with Lorazepam
The concomitant administration of 20 mg bilastine once daily and 3 mg lorazepam once daily for 8 days did not potentiate the ZNS-sedative effects of lorazepam.

Children and Adolescents
Interaction studies have only been conducted in adults.Since there is no clinical experience regarding interactions with other drugs, food, or fruit juices in children, the results of interaction studies in adults must be considered when prescribing bilastine to children.There are no clinical data in children to determine whether changes in AUC or Cmax due to interactions affect the safety profile of bilastine.

Can pregnant or breastfeeding women take Bilastine STADA^® 20 mg tablets?
Pregnancy
There is no or very limited experience with the use of bilastine in pregnant women.
Animal studies have not revealed any direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to reproductive toxicity, parturition, or postnatal development.As a precautionary measure, the use of bilastine during pregnancy should be avoided.
Breastfeeding
It has not been studied in humans whether bilastine is excreted in human breast milk.Available animal pharmacokinetic data show that bilastine is excreted in breast milk.A decision must be made whether to continue or discontinue breastfeeding, or to discontinue or discontinue treatment with bilastine, taking into account the benefits of breastfeeding for the child and the benefits of bilastine therapy for the mother.

Does taking Bilastine STADA^® 20 mg tablets affect fertility?
There are no or very limited clinical data available.A study in rats showed no evidence of impaired fertility.
