How does the active ingredient in the medicine work?

The ingredients come from the witch hazel plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:
- Appearance: A shrub or small tree approximately 3 m tall, whose bright yellow, narrow-leaved flowers remain on the bush at the same time as the previous year's fruits; the leaves can easily be confused with hazel leaves.
- Occurrence: North America
- Main ingredients: Tannins
- Plant parts and preparations used: mainly extracts and tinctures of leaves, bark, and twigs. Tannins react with the proteins of the (mucous) membrane. They seal small injuries by forming a thin protective layer on the surface and inhibit inflammation and minor bleeding.

Faktu Lind Hemorrhoid Ointment (pack size: 50 g) is a herbal medicinal product containing witch hazel for the effective treatment of hemorrhoid symptoms in the early stages.

FAKTU lind Hemorrhoid Ointment with Hamamelis virginiana

The herbal hemorrhoid ointment from FAKTU lind is available over the counter in pharmacies and helps relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids in the early stages. The herbal active ingredient from witch hazel (witch hazel) has a broad spectrum of activity and combats several hemorrhoid symptoms simultaneously:

• inhibits inflammation
• relieves itching and burning
• promotes the healing of irritated skin
• stops minor bleeding

Thanks to the astringent effect of witch hazel, minor bleeding that can occur in the early stages of hemorrhoids is stopped and oozing is reduced.

What helps against hemorrhoids?
FAKTU due to its good tolerability, lind hemorrhoid ointment is suitable for long-term treatment of mild hemorrhoid symptoms. However, self-treatment should not exceed a duration of 4 weeks.

Easy application with applicator
For the treatment of symptoms in the anus, the FAKTU lind ointment comes with an applicator with side openings. By applying the hemorrhoid ointment to the anal canal, it works locally at the site of the discomfort, resulting in a noticeable improvement in unpleasant symptoms.

When the anus itches
Approximately two out of three adults are affected by hemorrhoidal discomfort. They occur when the hemorrhoids enlarge. The symptoms of enlarged hemorrhoids usually develop slowly. Occasionally, one feels itching and a slight burning sensation in the anal area, or bright red blood may appear on the toilet paper.

How do hemorrhoids develop?
Everyone has hemorrhoids. They are ring-shaped cushions of blood vessels located behind the anal sphincter. They seal the rectum from the outside and prevent stool residue, secretions, and intestinal gas from escaping. If pressure is applied to the blood vessel cushions for a prolonged period, the blood cannot drain, and the bulging hemorrhoids are pushed outward, especially during constipation and forced bowel movements. As a result, the connective tissue loses elasticity and becomes increasingly irritated, and fecal and wound secretions leak out into the anus. The skin around the anus begins to itch and burn.

What causes hemorrhoid problems? The causes of hemorrhoidal problems are varied and often related to our modern lifestyle:

• unbalanced, low-fiber diet
• insufficient fluid intake
• sitting for long hours
• insufficient exercise
• Straining during bowel movements

Lack of exercise itself does not cause hemorrhoidal problems. However, prolonged sitting makes the bowels sluggish. People who are sensitive to constipation are prone to constipation under these conditions. This, in turn, leads to excessive straining when going to the toilet, which irritates the hemorrhoidal cushions and can lead to hemorrhoidal problems.

Who is particularly at risk
People who suffer from chronic constipation are prone to hemorrhoidal problems. As connective tissue loses elasticity with age, seniors increasingly suffer from hemorrhoid problems, especially when mobility decreases.

Hemorrhoid problems cannot be ignored
Hemorrhoids are a taboo subject for many: however, especially in the early stages, they can be treated with over-the-counter hemorrhoid medications. If the causative factors are not addressed, they will continue to grow over time. Medically speaking, four stages are distinguished:

Grade 1 hemorrhoids
The hemorrhoids are neither visible nor palpable externally. There are hardly any symptoms, except for occasional blood on the toilet paper.
Grade 2 hemorrhoids
The hemorrhoids are usually noticeable and palpable externally after a bowel movement. However, they regress spontaneously. Symptoms include oozing, burning, itching, and slight bleeding.
Grade 3 hemorrhoids
The hemorrhoids do not regress spontaneously, but must be actively pushed into the anus. The symptoms are similar to those of grade 2, but continue to worsen as the hemorrhoids have prolapsed outward for a longer period of time.
Grade 4 Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids are permanently located in front of the anus. Symptoms worsen, and incontinence and painful inflammation can occur. If hemorrhoid symptoms are already very advanced (grade III/IV), a reduction procedure is usually necessary.

Sufferers should therefore counteract enlargement of the hemorrhoids early on by adjusting their diet and lifestyle. The symptoms should be treated with a suitable hemorrhoid ointment such as FAKTU lind with witch hazel extract.

Using FAKTU lind hemorrhoid ointment is particularly practical during the day. The ointment can be used as needed after showering or using the toilet. For symptoms such as pain and severe itching during the day, a local anesthetic hemorrhoid ointment containing lidocaine may also be helpful.

FAKTU lind hemorrhoid suppositories are ideal for the nighttime treatment of hemorrhoid symptoms. The suppository remains in place while you sleep, releasing the active ingredient continuously for hours. With the combination of hemorrhoid ointment and hemorrhoid suppositories, enlarged hemorrhoids are treated around the clock, and symptoms usually disappear quickly.

Anal hygiene for hemorrhoid problems
Thorough, gentle anal hygiene is essential, especially for sensitive skin. FAKTU Clean care wipes were developed for the gentle and caring cleansing of the anal region. The moist cleansing wipes are fragrance- and alcohol-free and contain Ruscus root extract. For optimal results, you should pat the anal area dry before applying the FAKTU and hemorrhoid ointment.

To support and prevent inflammation, wear cotton panties, and use anal pads in cases of excessive wetness or sweating.

Using an anal dilator
The use of an anal dilator is useful for treating chronic spasms of the anal sphincter, which can be caused by an anal fissure or diarrhea. A tight anal sphincter reduces blood flow to the anal canal, which impairs wound healing. Using an anal dilator stretches and relaxes the anal sphincter. The anal dilator can also be used to train the anal sphincter, which is useful if hemorrhoids tend to protrude from the anus more easily due to weakening pelvic floor and connective tissue.

How long should you use FAKTU lind hemorrhoid ointment?
In principle, FAKTU lind hemorrhoid ointment can be used until the symptoms subside. However, if symptoms do not improve within one week, or even worsen, a doctor should be consulted. Self-treatment without consulting a doctor should not exceed a period of four weeks.

How should FAKTU lind hemorrhoid ointment be stored?
Keep medicines out of the reach of children. The expiration date is printed on the carton and the tube. Do not use the product after the expiration date. Shelf life after opening is 6 months. Do not store above 30°C!

Mode of action

How does witch hazel ointment work?
Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) contains a high tannic acid content, which has an astringent effect and thus reduces oozing and bleeding. At the same time, a protective film forms over the sore and irritated hemorrhoids, which further relieves inflammation and accelerates the healing process.

Active ingredient: 62.5 mg distillate from fresh witch hazel leaves and twigs (1:1.12-2.08), distilling agent: ethanol 6% (w/w).

Other ingredients: cetylstearyl alcohol (Ph. Eur.); citric acid glycerol monooleate glycerol monostearate L-(+)-6-O-palmitoylascorbic acid all-rac-α-tocopherol lecithin (2.5:7.5:20:20:25:25); sodium edetate (Ph. Eur.); Glycerol (mono/di/tri)[adipat/alkanoat(C6 C20)/isostearat]; Liquid paraffin; Microcrystalline hydrocarbons (C40-C60); Propylene glycol; White soft paraffin; Purified water; Lanolin (contains butylhydroxytoluene).

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, you should not use the hemorrhoid cream. Due to the content of lanolin, butylhydroxytoluene, and cetylstearyl alcohol, localized skin irritation (contact dermatitis) may occur.

If you experience signs of allergies, such as skin redness associated with itching, please discontinue use of FAKTU lind Hemorrhoid Ointment and inform your doctor of any side effects you experience so that they can be treated specifically if necessary. Dosage

Recommended use of Faktu Lind Hemorrhoid Ointment (Pack size: 50 g):

After each bowel movement, the anus should be carefully and thoroughly cleaned and dried. The hemorrhoid ointment is then applied to the irritated area around the itchy anus. The ointment is then introduced into the anus using the applicator, rotating it. The tube should also be pressed and rotated while pulling it out to ensure the hemorrhoid ointment is evenly distributed.

It is important to thoroughly clean the applicator and tube tip after each use, ideally by unscrewing it and rinsing it with warm water.

FAKTU lind Hemorrhoid Ointment can also be used during pregnancy after consulting a doctor. The hemorrhoid ointment is unsuitable for people with witch hazel intolerance.

How to take

• Application on the skin and rectal application
• The enclosed applicator with side outlets can be used to apply the ointment to the anal canal. Screw the applicator onto the tube and insert it into the anal canal, preferably after a bowel movement. By gently pressing on the tube, the ointment flows evenly through the side outlets to the affected areas. By gently rotating the tube, the ointment is distributed evenly. The applicator is best cleaned after use by unscrewing it and rinsing it with warm water.

Patient Information

  • This medicine contains substances that may cause allergies if used in the anal area for a long time. Pregnancy

  • There is no experience with the use of this medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Treatment of hemorrhoids with preparations containing tannins should only be carried out during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consultation with a doctor and for a maximum of 2 weeks.
