The dry eye is widespread and is one of the common diseases in Germany. About 15-17% of the overall German population suffer from dry eyes-with women more often affected than men. Patients suffering from dry eyes complain about tired, reddened and burning eyes. Other frequent symptoms are scratches, unpleasant feeling of pressure and swelled eyelids.

About 60-80% of patients suffer from the so-called hypervaporative form of the dry eye. This is a disturbance of the lipidal components of the tear film. The tear film evaporates too much because the protective lipid layer (fat layer) is damaged. The clinical picture of the so-called Meibom-gland-dysfunction* is now considered one of the main causes of dry eyes. The secretion of the Meibom glands sitting on the edge of the lid prevents excessive evaporation of the tear film and stabilizes it at the same time. Meibom glands that are not optimally functioning and a disturbance of the lipid layer lead to a disturbed tear film. The consequence is dry eyes. To treat dry eyes, eye drops with hyaluronic acid and lipids - such as Hylovis^® Lipo - have successfully proven themselves.

Effective stabilization of all three layers of the tear film

The tear film is simplified by three layers. An outer lipid layer, the aqueous middle layer and the inner layer of Muzin. The tear film adheres to the corneal surface through the muzin or slime layer. The aqueous layer forms the middle layer and makes up most of the tear film. It contains not only water but also important nutrients, hyaluronic acid and oxygen for supplying the surface of the eye.

The outer lipid layer is produced by the so -called Meibom glands and prevents the tears from evaporating, it stabilizes the tear film.

Due to the innovative combination of hyaluronic acid and selected lipids, Hylovis^® LIPO acts immediately after use on all three layers of the tear film. The lipids close the gaps in the lipid layer and thus stabilize the tear film. Hylovis^® Lipo can therefore effectively help relieve the symptoms of dry eyes.

Application recommendation
Wash your hands thoroughly before use. Turn the closure cap off from the single dose tank and keep the ampoule opening over the eye to be housed. Hylovis^® Lipo can be dripped slightly from the ampoule due to low finger pressure. Unless otherwise recommended, drip 1 to 2 drops into the conjunctiva bag as required. The solution is distributed by the eyeliner and forms a transparent, durable layer of liquid on the surface of the eye. Do not touch the drip opening of the ampoule during the application and do not bring directly to the eye. Do not use damaged ampoules.

What are the causes of dry eyes?
