Field of use

• The preparation is a thyroid.
• It is used for
  • Prevention of an iodine lack (e.g. to prevent a goiter in iodine deficiency areas and after removing an iodine deficiency goiter)
  • Treatment of a goiter (diffuse euthyroid struma) in newborns, children, adolescents and younger adults.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against potassium iodide or one of the other components
  • if you suffer from a manifest overactive thyroid
  • if you suffer from a latent overactive thyroid, in a dosage over 150 µg iodine/day
  • if you suffer from a benign, hormone -forming tumor or uncontrollably hormone -forming districts of the thyroid gland, in a dosage of 300 - 1000 µg/day (except for preoperative treatment).

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is
  • Coque prevention with iodine deficiency
    • Infants and children
      • ½ - 1 Tablet (corresponding to 50 - 100 µg iodine) once a day.
    • Young people and adults
      • 1 - 2 Tablets (corresponding to 100 - 200 µg iodine) once a day.
    • Pregnancy and breast feeding period
      • 2 Tablets (corresponding to 200 µg iodine) once a day.
  • Prevention again again after completion of medication treatment or after surgery of the iodine deficiency crop
    • 1 - 2 Tablets (corresponding to 100 - 200 µg iodine) once a day.
  • Treatment of the iodine deficiency goiter
    • Newborns, children and adolescents
      • 1 - 2 Tablets (corresponding to 100 - 200 µg iodine) once a day.
    • Younger adults
      • 3 - 5 Tablets (corresponding to 300 - 500 µg iodine) daily. The preventive administration of the preparation generally must be carried out for years, often for life.
    • For treatment of the goiter in newborns, 2-4 weeks are usually sufficient, usually 6 - 12 months or more in children, adolescents and adults.

 

• The duration of the usage will be decided by the medicating doctor.
• Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • Please contact your doctor immediately, he will decide on any necessary measures.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • If you have taken too little or forgot the intake, do not take the double dose. Take the usual prescribed crowd the next day.

 

• If you cancel the intake
  • If you interrupt the intake of the preparation or end prematurely, e.g. B. due to a side effect, please contact your doctor.

 

• If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

• After a meal with sufficient liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water), take the medicine.

Patient information

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • There is no evidence that the preparation restricts the ability to participate in road traffic or work with machines and work without a safe hold.

Pregnancy

• There is an increased iodine requirement during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so that sufficient iodine intake is particularly important.
• However, the intake of iodine and iodine-containing preparations should only take place under benefit-risk assessment on the express prescription of the doctor.

Miscellaneous

- Before the planned application of iodine and iodine -containing preparations, it should be checked whether there is a thyroid overactive or a knotty goiter. This applies especially to adults and planned iodine treatment, since in this situation with the possibility must be expected to cause a thyroid overactive. Further diagnosis is indicated in the event of suspicion.
- The administration of iodine (especially in high doses) or iodine -containing medication may make a planned treatment of thyroid overfunction, hormone -producing thyroid tumors and malignant thyroid tumors impossible.
- If a malignant thyroid tumor is suspected, iodine gifts should be avoided in any form.
- In addition, the gift of high iodine cans can influence the thyroid examination and lead to errors if the assessment is appropriate. This applies especially to thyroid metabolism examinations and iodine metabolism studies.
