K2-Köhler® for strong bones
1 Capsule of K2-Köhler® contains 200 μg of vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7), dissolved in vegetable oils.

K2 – the bone vitamin
Vitamin K2 promotes bone formation by activating the important messenger substance osteocalcin. Osteocalcin contributes significantly to optimal bone structure and thus strengthens bone resilience. Studies have shown that women with low vitamin K intake have an increased risk of fractures due to osteoporosis. Furthermore, vitamin K ensures that our blood clots in the event of injury. K2-Köhler® contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal blood clotting.
What happens in the case of a vitamin K2 deficiency?
A deficiency of vitamin K2 leads to impaired blood clotting. This can lead to dangerous bleeding – not only from wounds, but also internally in various organs. Additionally, a vitamin K2 deficiency leads to disturbances in bone metabolism. Important for vegans: Vitamin K2 occurs naturally only in animal products such as liver, eggs, and dairy products.

Vitamin K2 and Arteriosclerosis
Recent studies have shown that increased vitamin K2 intake can reduce the risk of arteriosclerosis1,2,3,4. In arteriosclerosis, calcium crystals are deposited on the walls of blood vessels. This leads to calcification of the arteries. Calcification not only increases the risk of heart attack and stroke, but also of kidney damage, diabetes, and accelerated aging. Vitamin K2 activates the protein MGP, which counteracts the formation of calcium crystals in the blood vessels. MGP can bind calcium ions and transport them out of the vessel walls. Therefore, vitamin K2 could not only prevent calcification, but potentially even reverse it. Currently, no other substance is known to perform this function in human metabolism.

What is my daily requirement of vitamin K2?
] The exact amount of vitamin K2 a person needs is not known. The German Nutrition Society (DGE) therefore only provides estimated values for an "adequate intake" of total vitamin K (K1 and K2). For example, the estimated value for men over 50 is 80 μg per day. Nutritionists have recently shown that a higher dosage can also be beneficial – for example, for people with a family history of osteoporosis or cardiovascular disease. They are advised to take 200 μg of vitamin K2 daily.
How do I take vitamin K2 correctly?
There are different forms of vitamin K2: menaquinone-4, menaquinone-7, and menaquinone-9. Menaquinone-7 is considered the most effective form of vitamin K2 because it is said to have the highest bioavailability. K2-Köhler® contains menaquinone-7.
What are the side effects of vitamin K2?
Vitamin K2 is very well tolerated. Even high doses are safe for healthy people. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has therefore not set an upper limit.
The recommended daily intake must not be exceeded.
Dietary supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.
