Field of use

• The drug is a laxative.
• The preparation is used for constipation (obstipation), for diseases that require easier bowel emptying, and for bowel emptying in treatment measures and measures to detect diseases (therapeutic and diagnostic interventions) in the intestine.
• Like other laxatives, this should not be taken daily or over a long period of time without medical clarification of the cause of the constipation.

Contraindications

• The drug must not be used,
  • if you are allergic to bisacodyl or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • for complaints such as B. abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or fever. These can be signs of a serious illness (intestinal constriction with impaired intestinal passage, intestinal obstruction, acute inflammation in the abdominal area, acute abdominal pain requiring surgical treatment such as appendicitis). If you experience such symptoms, you should seek medical advice immediately.
  • by children under 2 years of age.

dosage

• Always take this medicine exactly as described or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose is
  • for adults and children from 11 years:
    • 1 to 2 enteric-coated tablets (equivalent to 5 - 10 mg bisacodyl) once in the evening
  • for children from 2 to 10 years:
    • once 1 gastro-resistant tablet (equivalent to 5 mg bisacodyl) in the evening
• It is recommended to start with the lowest dosage. The dose can be adjusted up to the maximum recommended dose to allow regular bowel movements. The maximum daily dose of 1-2 tablets (for adults and children over 11 years) or 1 tablet (for children from 2 to 10 years) should not be exceeded.
• To empty the bowels in treatment measures and measures to detect diseases (therapeutic and diagnostic interventions) in the intestines as well as in diseases that require easier emptying of the bowels, it is taken according to the doctor's instructions.
• Application in children
  • In children, the preparation should only be used on medical advice.
• Ingestion leads to defecation after about 6 to 12 hours.

 

• Duration of use
  • Taking this medicine is usually a single dose. If symptoms recur, it can be taken again. The preparation should not be taken continuously daily or for long periods of time without clarification of the cause of the constipation.
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you take more than you should
  • Overdosing can lead to diarrhea and abdominal cramps with high loss of fluid, potassium and other mineral salts. If you have severe symptoms, ask your doctor for advice.
  • The treatment depends on the prevailing symptoms. If necessary, the fluid and salt losses (especially potassium) are to be compensated.
  • A notice:
    • In general, laxatives (e.g. this one) are known to lead to chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, low potassium levels, excessive secretion of aldosterone and kidney stones in chronic overdose. In connection with chronic laxative abuse, damage to the kidney tissue, a metabolism-related increase in base concentrations in the blood and muscle weakness caused by reduced potassium levels have also been reported.

 

• If you forget to take a dose
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
  • You should not take the preparation if you have illnesses that are associated with disorders of the water and mineral salt balance (e.g. significant lack of fluids in the body).
  • Laxatives should only be taken for a short time without medical advice.
  • If you have chronic constipation, you should consult your doctor before taking it.
  • Increased fluid loss can lead to dehydration. This can have adverse health effects in certain circumstances (e.g. in patients with impaired kidney function or in the elderly). In such cases, the intake should be discontinued and only continued under medical supervision.
  • Patients reported blood in the stool. These were generally described as mild and went away on their own.
  • Dizziness or brief bursts of unconsciousness (syncope) have been reported in patients taking this medicine. According to the corresponding case reports, these are probably syncopes, which can be traced back either to the evacuation process itself, to straining or to circulatory reactions due to abdominal pain.
  • Children
    • The medicine should not be used in children under 2 years of age.
    • In children from 2 years of age, the preparation should only be used on medical advice.

 

• Ability to drive and use machines
  • No studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines have been performed.
  • Please note that side effects could theoretically affect driving and using machines.
