Field of use

• The medicine is a mineral preparation.
• The medicine is used
  • for the treatment of magnesium deficiency in need of therapy that do not require injection/infusion;
  • in the case of proven magnesium deficiency if it is the cause of disorders of muscle activity (neuromuscular disorders, calf cramps).

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if you are allergic to magnesium aspartate hydrochloride or one of the other components of this drug.
  • if you suffer from severe kidney dysfunction with excretion inhibition (glomerular filtration rate < 30 ml/min),
  • if you suffer from the lack of fluids of the body (exsiccosis).

dosage

• Always take this medicine exactly as described or follow your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The dosage depends on the extent of the magnesium deficiency and lies at the discretion of the doctor.
• As a medium daily dose, 0.185 mmol magnesium (4.5 mg) per kg body weight is recommended. In the case of chronic and severe acute magnesium deficiency states, the daily dose, if there are no contraindications, can be safely increased to 0.37 mmol magnesium (9 mg) per kg body weight until the lack of the defect.
• The recommended dosage is
  • Adult:
    • 2 film-coated tablets 1 to 3 times a day (corresponding to 121.6- 364.8 mg magnesium).
  • Application in children and adolescents
    • Young people aged 15 and over:
      • 2 film-coated tablets 1 to 3 times a day (corresponding to 121.6- 364.8 mg magnesium).
    • Children from 4-14 years:
      • 2 film-coated tablets 1- to 2 times a day (corresponding to 121.6- 243.2 mg magnesium).
    • Children under 4 years:
      • This medicine should not be used.
• Kidney dysfunction
  • This medicine must not be taken by patients with severe kidney dysfunction.
  • This medicine should be used in patients with light to moderate kidney dysfunction with caution. Ask your doctor in which dose and how long you should take this magnesium preparation. See also category "Patient notice".
• Liver dysfunction
  • Due to inadequate data, there are no special dosage recommendations for patients with limited liver function.

 

 

• Duration of the application
  • The duration of the application depends on the extent of the magnesium deficiency and lies at the discretion of the doctor.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should,
  • the specified side effects can occur increased.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • Do not take the double amount if you have forgotten the prior intake.

Taking

• Please take the film -coated tablets with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water). The medicine should be taken before eating, since this means that the gastrointestinal canal is absorbed into the bloodstreamessert.

  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
  • With slight to moderate restriction of kidney function, caution is required when using magnesium preparations. The therapy should be monitored closely by the doctor.
• Children and adolescents
  • Due to the dosage form (film -coated tablets), this preparation is not suitable for children under 4 years, since the risk of "swallowing" could exist. Liquid forms of dosage are available for the age group of 1 - 3 years.

 

• Wateriness and ability to operate machines
  • There are no special precautions required.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.
• The preparation can be used during pregnancy and lactation if the doctor considers this necessary.
• Experiences at more than 1000 pregnancy outputs do not indicate a malformation risk or effects of magnesium on male or female fertility.
• Breastfeeding
  • Magnesium showed no effect on breastfed newborns/children of treated mothers.
