The serum's main active ingredient, retinal, belongs to the group of retinoids – a scientifically studied class of substances within the vitamin A derivatives.Vitamin A has been established in skin care for many years.The term "vitamin A" encompasses various substances from the retinoid group, namely retinyl palmitate, retinol, retinal, and retinoic acid.Since only retinoic acid is biologically active in the skin, the other substances must first be converted into retinoic acid. The following applies: The fewer conversion steps to retinoic acid are necessary, the more effective the effect in the skin.Retinal is the direct precursor of retinoic acid, meaning only a single conversion step is necessary.Products containing retinal are considered particularly effective due to their rapid & effective conversion to retinoic acid and are used in cosmetics, particularly to improve skin structure and reduce the depth of wrinkles.

The serum is complemented by a hyaluronic acid complex consisting of short-, long-chain, and cross-linked molecules, as well as glycerin for intensive hydration.Panthenol soothes the skin, while vitamin E supports the skin barrier and has an antioxidant effect.Nourishing almond oil ensures a smooth skin feel.This serum is the entry-level product in the dermatologically formulated retinal system care range from medipharma cosmetics.It was designed for the entry-level phase of retinal use – with a concentration of 0.05% retinal, which is particularly suitable for the beginning of a regular skincare routine.After the initial adjustment period, you can switch to the more concentrated Retinal Intensive Serum with 0.1% pure, naturally encapsulated retinal if needed.

Retinal also has antimicrobial properties, making it useful for skin prone to blemishes.It also regulates melanin production and can thus compensate for age- or hormone-related pigmentation disorders.

For controlled use, we recommend a gradual acclimation: For the first two weeks, the serum should be applied 1–2 times per week in the evening.Depending on skin reaction, application can then be increased to a daily evening routine.Since retinal increases photosensitivity, application only in the evening is required.Suitable sunscreen in the morning – we recommend the PROTECT Facial Fluid – is essential to protect the skin from UV -related damage.

When initially using the 0.05% Retinal Serum, temporary skin sensations such as a slight tingling, prickling sensation, or tightness may occur.These reactions are a sign of the so-called retinization phase – a phase in which the skin gradually adapts to the active ingredient and the first regenerative processes begin.

Instructions for use
Apply the serum in the evening.If you have not previously used products containing retinal, we recommend a gradual introduction due to the intensive conditioning effect of retinal.Initially, use the product 1-2 times a week for approximately 2 weeks, then increase to daily use.

Do not use more than once daily.For an even more intensive effect, you can switch to the Retinal Intensive Serum.Apply a day cream containing LSF the next morning.We recommend the PROTECT Facial Fluid LSF 50+ as an ideal complement.Contains vitamin A. Consider your daily intake before use.
