Field of use

• The ratiopharm Nasenduo nasal spray children contains the active ingredients xylometazolin hydrochloride and dexpanthenol. Xylometazoline narrows the vessels and thereby causes a swelling of the nasal mucosa. The additional active ingredient dexpanthenol is a descendant of vitamin pantothenic acid, which promotes wound healing and protects the mucous membranes.
• To swell of the nasal mucosa in a runny nose and to support the healing of skin and mucous membrane damage (lesions), sequence-by-effect of flow sniff (rhinitis vasomotorica) and for the treatment of nasal attack disabilities after surgery on the nose.
• For use in children between 2 and 6 years.
• If you don't feel better or worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.

Contradictions

• The nasal spray must not be used,
  • if you are allergic to xylometazolin hydrochloride or dexpanthenol or one of the other components of this medicine.
  • if you suffer from a dry runny nose (a chronic runny nose that leads to dry inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes with bark formation).
  • if you recently undergone a neurosurgical procedure (transsphenoidal hypophysectomy or other surgical interventions that expose the meninges).
  • in children under 2 years.

dosage

• Always apply this medicine as described or exactly after the agreement made with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose for children between 2 and 6 years is up to 3 times a day 1 spray in each nasal opening. The dosage depends on the individual sensitivity and the clinical effect.

• Duration of the application
  • The nasal spray should not be used for more than 7 days unless the doctor expressly orders another application.
  • A new application should only take place after a break of several days.
  • In principle, the doctor should be asked about the duration of use in children.
  • Permanent use of this drug can lead to chronic swelling and finally to the loss of the nasal mucosa.
  • Patients with increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma, especially narrow -angle glaucoma) should interview the doctor before using this drug.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the nasal spray is too strong or too weak.

• If you have used a larger amount than you should
  • z. B. as a result of an overdose or accidental intake, the following effects can occur:
    • Pupil narrowing (miosis), expansion of pupils (mydriasis), fever, sweating, pallor, bluing of lips (cyanosis), nausea, cramps, cardiac and circulatory disorders, such as. B. cardiac arrhythmiasinsing (tachycardia, bradycardia, cardiac arrhythmia), circulatory collapse, cardiac arrest, hypertension (hypertension); Lung dysfunction (pulmonary edema, breathing disorders), mental disorders. In addition, sleepiness, humiliation of body temperature, reduction in heart rate, shock -like blood pressure drop, exposure to breathing and unconsciousness (coma) can occur.
  • If you suspect overdose, please inform your doctor immediately. This may take the necessary measures.

• If you have forgotten the application
  • Next time, do not apply twice the amount, but continue the application as described in the dosage instructions.

• If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

• This medicine is intended for use in the nose. After removing the protective cap, insert the spray opening into the nose opening and press the pump once. Breathe quietly through the nose during the spray process. After use, carefully wipe the spray head with a clean paper towel and put it on again.
• Hints:
  • Before the first application and after a more than 7-day treatment break, press the pump several times until an even spray lever is handed over. In the following applications, the dosing spray is immediately ready for use.
  • Carefully clean your nose before using the nasal spray. It is recommended to apply the last dose of the day before going to bed.
  • For hygiene reasons and avoiding infections, a spray bottle should only be used by one person.

    • if you are dealt with with certain medicines against depression, which are referred to as monoaminoxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors), or with other potentially blood pressure-enhancing medicines (e.g. doxapram, ergotamine, oxytocin).

    • if you suffer from a coronary heart disease or high blood pressure (hypertension).

    • if you have a metabolic disease known as porphyria (a metabolic disorder that affects the skin and/or nervous system).
    • if your prostate is enlarged (prostate hyperplasia).
  • The use of chronic runny nose may only be carried out under medical control due to the loss of the nasal mucosa (tissue in the nose).
• Children
  • The nasal spray must not be used in children under 2 years.
  • Long -term application and overdose, especially in children, must be avoided. The application for higher doses may only be carried out under medical control.

 

• Wateriness and ability to operate machines
  • No side effects can be expected in the event of intended use.

Pregnancy

• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using all drugs.
• Pregnancy
  • The nasal spray can be used for no more than a week during pregnancy.
• Breastfeeding
  • It is not known whether xylometazoline and dexpanthenol pass into breast milk. A risk of the infant cannot be excluded. A decision must be made about whether breastfeeding can be interrupted or whether treatment with the nasal spray should be dispensed with/the treatment should be interrupted. Both the benefits of breastfeeding for the child and the benefits of therapy for women must be taken into account.
