Field of use

The preparation is a means for use in the nose (Rhinologikum) and contains the alpha sympathomimetics xylometazoline.

The drug is used to swell of the nasal mucosa (short -term treatment) in the case of runny nose, sequence of flow sniffing (rhinitis vasomotorica) or allergic runny nose (rhinitis allergica) to facilitate secretion in the event of inflammation of the sinuses and in the case of catarrh of the tube agent in connection with a run. In this case, the medicine may only be used according to medical instruction.

Contradictions

In the case of known hypersensitivity to one of the above -mentioned ingredients, with dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa with bark formation and in children under 6 years nose gel AL (pack size: 10 g) should not be used. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, when taking mood-enhancing medicinal products or other potentially blood pressure-enhancing medicines, increased intraocular pressure, severe cardiovascular diseases, a hormone-producing tumor of the adrenal marrow and for metabolic disorders, nasal gel (pack size: 10 g) [A31) is ] to consult a doctor. Nasal gel AL (pack size: 10 g) should not be used for more than 5 days and in children under 6 years.

dosage

The recommended dose in adults and children from the age of 6 is inserted into each nose opening up to 3 times a day, as required, 1 drop of nasal gel.

The medicine must not be used for more than 7 days unless the medical order. A new application should only take place after a break of several days. Chronic runny nose may only be used due to the risk of the loss of the nasal mucosa.

If you have used a larger amount than you should. As a result of a significant overdose or by accidental taking the medicine, the following effects can occur:

• Pupil extension or narrowing
• Nausea and vomiting
• Ballion, blue coloring of skin and lips
• Fever, sweating or dropping the body temperature
• Cardiovascular disorders such as too slower, too faster or irregular heartbeat, increase or drop in blood pressure
• Exposition of the breathing
• Lethargy, sleepiness and coma
• Feeling of fear, excitement, hallucinations and cramps
  
  Especially in children, cramps and coma, slow heartbeat, exposure to breathing and an increase in blood pressure, which can be replaced by a drop in blood pressure, occurs, especially in children. Taking

This preparation is intended for nasal application. It is advisable to thoroughly roll your nose before using the preparation. The last application on every treatment day should be done cheaply before going to bed. For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, it is pointed out that each dosing unit may only be used by one patient.

  • There are individual reports on serious side effects (in particular respiratory arrest) when using the recommended dose. Dose crossing must be avoided.
  • In the following diseases and situations, you can only use the nose gel after consultation with your doctor:
    • with an increased intraocular pressure, especially narrow -angle glaucoma.
    • for severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. coronary heart disease, long-qt syndrome) and hypertension (hypertension).
    • if they are treated with monoaminoxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) and other potentially blood pressure-enhancing medicines.
    • in the case of tumor of the adrenal gland (Phäochromocytom).
    • for metabolic disorders, such as overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) and diabetes (diabetes mellitus).
    • for prostate enlargement.
    • porphyria in metabolic disease.
  • The permanent use of mucosal peeling nasal gel can lead to chronic swelling and finally to the loss of the nasal mucosa.

Pregnancy

Since the security of the drug is not sufficiently proven during pregnancy and breastfeeding, you may only apply the preparation on the advice of your doctor and only after this has carried out careful benefits/risk assessment. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the recommended dosage must not be exceeded, since overdose can affect blood supply to the unborn child or reduce milk production.
