Field of use

• Acidose therapy
• The preparation is a means of treating the metabolism -related acidification of the blood (metabolic acidose) and for conservation treatment against the recurrence of the metabolism -related acidification of the blood in the case of chronic undermill (chronic renal failure).

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken at
  • Hypersensitivity (allergy) against sodium hydrogen carbonate or one of the other components of the preparation.
  • Base surplus in the blood (alkalosis).
  • dilated serum potassium (hypocalaemia) and with increased serum sodium (hypernatremia) or sodium low diet.

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
  • The dosage is always based on the severity of the metabolic acidification of the blood (metabolic acidose). As a rule, the dosage is 4 - 6 gastric -resistant soft capsules per day, corresponding to 3.4 to 5 g sodium hydrogen carbonate per day (= 40 - 65 mg sodium hydrogen carbonate per kg body weight and day).

 

• Duration of the application
  • As long as an existing metabolism -related acidification of the blood (metabolic acidose) requires a prescription of the preparation by the doctor.
  • The intake must not be carried out uncontrollably over a longer period of time, since there is the possibility of increased sodium blood values (hypernatremia) or the blood (alkalosis).
  • Do not take the preparation without medical advice for longer than 7-14 days.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • Overdosing of sodium hydrogen carbonate can lead to the nitrousness of the blood (alkalosis) with symptoms such as muscle weakness, fatigue, flat breathing. Please contact your doctor immediately to initiate countermeasures and for dose setting.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • In this case, continue with the prescribed intake and do not take the too little or not afterwards in addition to the prescribed dosage. But also inform your doctor.

 

• If you cancel the intake
  • Please inform your doctor about this.

 

• If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

• The gastric -resistant soft capsules should be taken over the day with a little liquid over the day.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking the drug is required,
  • if you suffer from a weakened breathing (hypoventilation), humiliated calcium content of the blood (hypocalcaemia) or increased salt content of the blood (hyperosmolar conditions).
  • The sodium content (230 mg sodium = 10 mval per gastrointestinal -resistant soft capsule) should be taken into account especially for long -term treatment; If necessary, a saline or low -table diet must be observed.
  • The effect of the drug must initially be checked at least 1 - 2 week distance (e.g. pH measurement, standard bicarbonate, alkali reserve). The plasma electrolytes, especially sodium, potassium and calcium, must also be checked regularly. These checks must also be carried out regularly with permanent medication. Depending on the result of these controls, the respective further dosage must be determined. A possibly over -ecalization can be corrected by a reduction in dose.

Pregnancy

• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using all drugs.
• There is no experience with the application of the preparation. Although there are no objections to taking sodium hydrogen carbonate if the indication is appropriate, the drug is only taken after consultation with the treating doctor during pregnancy.
