Omega-3 Hevert plant-based – the sustainable and vegan alternative to fish oil
Not all fats are created equal, or rather, not all fatty acids are created equal. A distinction is made between saturated, unsaturated, and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Saturated fatty acids are considered unhealthy if consumed in excessive amounts and are found primarily in animal products, but also in palm oil, coconut oil, and cocoa butter. The healthier polyunsaturated fatty acids are found in fish and plant-based foods such as rapeseed oil, olive oil, nuts, grains, avocados, and potatoes.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids include omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The most important omega-3 fatty acids are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). To ensure that these are sufficiently available in the body, the diet should not contain too many omega-6 fatty acids. Today, our diet contains 10 to 20 times more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids. Two capsules a day provide adults with optimal plant-based omega-3 fatty acids; pregnant women take one capsule per day.
