Area of application

Posiforlid Eye Mask (pack size: 1 piece) is a medical device for use in eye complaints caused by blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid margin), meibomian gland dysfunction (blockage or dysfunction of the meibomian glands), styes, or chalazions. Blepharitis can lead to skin problems such as hardening of the secretions of the sebaceous glands (meibomian glands) located in the eyelid margin. This can lead to crust formation on the eyelid margin and eyelashes. The heat treatment softens the crusts on the eyelid margin and the secretions of the meibomian glands. This makes it easier to remove the crusts, and the secretions can be easily smoothed out during a subsequent eyelid massage. The heat treatment is particularly important for maintaining and improving the function of the meibomian glands. However, it only works in a warm, humid environment with a constant temperature of approximately 45°C for five to ten minutes. Posiforlid Eye Mask (pack size: 1 piece) is particularly suitable for this purpose because it meets the requirements and can be reused approximately 90 times.

Active ingredients / ingredients

Posiforlid Eye Mask (pack size: 1 piece) contains:

The eye mask consists of
• a self-heating eye pad (A) with two separate chambers. Each chamber is filled with sodium acetate solution and contains a round metal plate (B) encircled by red plastic, which is required to activate the mask.
• An insert sleeve (C) into which the self-heating eye pad is inserted. The insert sleeve features an adjustable elastic band, a plastic snap fastener, and recesses for positioning cotton pads.

The components of the eye mask are free of
• Phthalates
• Silicone
All components that come into contact with the skin are latex-free.

Contraindications

The product should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the above-mentioned ingredients.

Dosage

Recommended use of Posiforlid Eye Mask (Pack size: 1 piece):

The eye mask is ready for use when the contents of the self-heating eye pad (A) are liquid. If they are solid, which cannot be ruled out due to transport, follow the reuse and care instructions described in the package insert.

Before use:
Check the eye mask for damage or leaks before each use. Use only if undamaged.
Wash hands thoroughly.
Remove contact lenses and eye makeup, if present.

1. Preparing the eye mask:
Place the non-activated eye pad (A) into the insert (C).
Close the insert sleeve (C) with the snap fastener.

2. Activating the Posiforlid Eye Mask (Pack size: 1 piece):
Activate both sides of the eye pad (A) one after the other using the click mechanism: To do this, press the metal plate several times in both directions until the contents of the eye pad turn cloudy, solidify, and simultaneously warm up (comparable to a hand warmer). Kneading the warm pad afterwards will make it more supple and thus adapt better to the eye area.

Moisten two cotton pads with lukewarm water. Place them between the activated eye pad and the insert sleeve (C) so that they are behind the oval recesses.

3. Applying the Posiforlid Eye Mask (Pack size: 1 piece):

When applying the eye mask, ensure that the moist cotton pads are placed on your closed eyes. Pull the elastic band over your head and adjust it to a comfortable fit. For optimal results, allow the heat to work for 5-10 minutes.

Eyelid hygiene after applying the eye mask:
After applying the eye mask, cleaning your eyelids is an important step. Remove the eye mask and remove the cotton pads. Massage and cleanse the eyelids and eyelid margins with the cotton pads you just removed as follows:
Upper eyelid: Gently stroke the upper eyelid from top to bottom 5 to 10 times.
Lower eyelid: Gently stroke the lower eyelid from bottom to top 5 to 10 times.

Finally, clean the eyelid margins again with fresh, moistened cotton pads. Dispose of the cotton pads after use.
