The Selen trace element acts as a cofactor of different selenon proteins and is involved in a large number of metabolic reactions. As part of the Active center of selenon proteins is necessary for the function of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase6. Selenium sits in a central position of the Encymmolecule and plays a central role in the elimination of cell -damaging compounds.
