Field of use

• The medicine is an antacid. This is a means of binding excess stomach acid.
• The drug is used for the symptomatic treatment of diseases in which the stomach acid is to be bound:
  • Gastric and duodenal ulcers (Ulcus ventriculi and ulcus duodeni)
  • Heartburn and acid -related stomach complaints.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if they are hypersensitive (allergic) against hydrotalcit or one of the other components.
  • If you suffer from severe kidney dysfunction, you must not take the medicine.
  • If your kidney function is restricted, you have an increased risk of increased enrichment of magnesium and aluminum in the blood with long -term use of high doses of the drug. An increased enrichment of aluminum can lead to painful bone deviation (osteomalacia) or pathological, non -inflammatory brain changes (encephalopathy). Therefore, if the kidney function has been restricted, you may only use the medicinal product if the serum level of magnesium and aluminum is regularly checked by a doctor. An aluminum level of 40 µg/l should not be exceeded.
  • If you are z. B, due to a low -phosphate nutrition, there is a lack of phosphate (hypophosphatemia) or that they suffer from pathological muscle weakness or tiredness (Myasthenia gravis) should not take the medicine.

dosage

• Always apply the medicine exactly according to the instruction.
• Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, adults and children over the age of 12 take several times a day between meals and before going to bed 1 bag of suspension (corresponding to 1000 mg hydrotalcit).
• The daily dose should not exceed 6 bags suspension according to 6000 mg hydrotalcit.
• Other medicines should generally take place one to two hours before or after taking the drug.

 

• Duration of the application:
  • The duration of the treatment depends on the type and severity and the course of the disease.
  • If the symptoms remain below the treatment for more than 2 weeks, a doctor should be consulted.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should:
  • Poisoning by the medicine is unlikely due to the low absorption of aluminum and magnesium.
  • When overdosing, there may be changes in stool behavior such as stool deviation and increase in the frequency of stool. Therapeutic measures are generally not necessary here.

 

• If you forgot to take it:
  • Next time, do not take it in, but continue treatment with the prescribed dose.

 

• If you stop taking:
  • Definitely speak to your doctor before you - e.g. B. due to the occurrence of side effects - interrupt the treatment with the medicinal product or end it prematurely.

Taking

• The medicine is used several times a day between den meals and taken before going to bed.
• Other medicines should generally take place 1 - 2 hours before or after hydrotalcit.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking it is required:
  • If the function of your kidneys is restricted, you suffer from Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia or eat it with a phosphate, you should avoid a long -lasting intake of high doses with the medicine.
  • Longer-lasting and recurring stomach complaints can be signs of a serious illness, such as a stomach or duodenum ulcer. Treatment with the medicine should therefore not take longer than 14 days without a medical examination. In patients with gastric or duodenal ulcer, an examination for the gastric bacterium H. pylori - and in the event of proof - a recognized antibacterial therapy should be considered, since the ulcer disease usually also heals when such therapy is successfully used.
  • If the occurrence of the theasting, blood admixtures in the stool or vomiting of blood, please see a doctor immediately, as this can also be signs of a serious illness.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • There are no special precautions required.

Pregnancy

• During pregnancy, the drug should only be used after a medical consultation and at short notice to avoid aluminum pollution from the child.
• In general, aluminum compounds pass into breast milk. However, there is no risk for the newborn, since only very small amounts of mother and child are accepted.
• Reports on harmful effects of hydrotalcit during pregnancy and during the breastfeeding period have not become known. However, there are no specific studies on children whose mothers have taken hydrotalcit during pregnancy or lactation.

Miscellaneous

- If the kidney performance is reduced, there is a risk of poisoning (increase in magnesium levels and aluminum levels in the blood). This can lead to disorders of the nervous system, muscle weakness, tiredness, paralysis, coma and cardiac arrhythmias.

- With long -lasting high doses and low -phosphate diet, phosphate raving can occur.

- The simultaneous use of aluminum -containing antacids with acidic drinks such as fruit juices and wine increases the absorption of aluminum over the intestine.
