How do the ingredients of the medicine work?

Ibuprofen: The active ingredient belongs to a group of substances that have both pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects and can reduce fever. All three effects are primarily based on the inhibition of a substance produced naturally in the body called prostaglandin. This substance must be present as a messenger substance in order for pain to be perceived, inflammatory reactions to be initiated, or body temperature to be raised.
Caffeine: The active ingredient primarily acts on the cerebral cortex. Due to its stimulating effect, it temporarily relieves fatigue in those who are tired and increases performance. It also causes constriction of cerebral blood vessels, which has a beneficial effect on headaches and migraines. When taken together with painkillers, it is said to support their pain-relieving effects.

What are the contraindications?

- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- Blood disorder of unknown cause
- Ulcers or bleeding in the digestive tract, even recurrent
- History of bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract caused by medication
- History of stomach or intestinal perforation caused by medication
- Cerebral hemorrhage
- Other bleeding
- Severe heart failure
- Severely impaired liver function
- Severely impaired kidney function
- Severe dehydration due to vomiting, diarrhea, or insufficient fluid intake

Which age group should be considered?
- Children and adolescents under 18 years of age: This medicine must not be used.
- Elderly patients: Treatment should be carefully coordinated with your doctor and monitored, e.g., through close monitoring. The desired effects and undesirable side effects of the drug may be increased or reduced in this group.

Notes

What should you be aware of?
- Reaction time may be impaired even when used as directed, especially at higher doses or in combination with alcohol. Be especially careful when driving or operating machinery (including household machinery) that could cause injury.
- If you have pain or fever, do not use the medication for longer than indicated in the package insert without medical advice!
- Long-term use of painkillers may cause headaches caused by the painkiller. Talk to your doctor to prevent your headaches from becoming chronic.
- Habitual use of painkillers can lead to permanent kidney damage. Combining several painkillers, or if one painkiller contains multiple active ingredients, increases the risk.
- Caution: Patients with nasal polyps, chronic respiratory infections, asthma, or a tendency to allergic reactions such as hay fever: This medication may trigger an asthma attack or a severe allergic skin reaction. Therefore, consult your doctor before use.
- Caution if you are allergic to painkillers!
- Caution if you are allergic to binding agents (e.g., carboxymethylcellulose with E number E 466)!
- There may be interactions with certain medications. Therefore, you should always inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medication you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medication. This also applies to medications that you buy yourself, use only occasionally, or have used for some time.
- Coffee, cola drinks, mate tea, and green and black tea should be avoided during treatment with this medication.
