UNILIPON 600 Infusion solution concentrate, 1X10 pcs

Indications
Painful sensations in diabetic polyneuropathy.

Method of administration
The injection solution is administered intravenously over a period of 2 to 4 weeks in the initial phase of treatment.

Intravenous administration should be administered as a short infusion over at least 30 minutes after the contents of Unilipon® 600 mg have been mixed with 250 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution. For continued therapy, 300 mg to 600 mg of thioctic acid in dosage forms for oral administration are used.

Composition
1 Ampoule of Unilipon® 600 mg to 24 ml concentrate for solution for infusion contains: 687.4 mg thioctic acid, ethylenebis(azane) salt (equivalent to 600 mg alpha-lipoic acid).
Other ingredients: Ethylenediamine, water for injections, nitrogen, argon.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient thioctic acid or to any of the other ingredients.

Side effects
Very rare: Purpura and thrombopathies, altered or disturbed sense of taste, seizures, double vision, and injection site reactions. Allergic skin reactions with urticaria, itching, eczema, and rash, as well as systemic reactions and even shock, may occur. Common: With rapid intravenous injection, head pressure and respiratory distress (resolve spontaneously). Very rarely, blood sugar levels may drop due to improved glucose utilization. Hypoglycemia-like symptoms with dizziness, sweating, headaches, and visual disturbances have been described.

Dosage Instructions
For severe symptoms of diabetic polyneuropathy, intravenous administration at a dosage of 24 ml of injection solution per day (equivalent to 600 mg thioctic acid/day) is recommended for adults.
